Jubalandese Charity Center (JCC) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-religious, non-racial humanitarian organisation legally registered in both Kenya and Somalia. Since 1994 we have delivered humanitarian relief, protection, peacebuilding and long-term development work in some of the region's most under-served areas.
Our story
JCC was founded to respond to the compounding shocks facing pastoral, agro-pastoral and riverine communities in the Horn of Africa — cycles of drought and displacement, fractured social contracts, and thin access to basic services.
Over two decades on, we operate offices in Nairobi and Garissa in Kenya and field offices in Kismayo, Liboi, Ras Kambooni and Bu'ale in southern Somalia, with a small, senior team that knows these communities by name. Our proximity is our most valuable asset.
We are best known for long-standing partnerships with the Norwegian Refugee Council, CARE International, the European Union, GIZ and UNHCR on protection projects from 2011 to 2024, livelihoods programming with UN OCHA, and a cross-border initiative along the Kenya–Somalia corridor funded by Adam Smith International through the Deriswanag program.
